Paratriathlete Stuart Meikle wins gold medal27/06/2019
Lloyd Colne BMW would like to wish one of their long-time customers – Stuart Meikle – a huge congratulations on achieving a gold medal at the recent British Triathlon Championships.
Paratriathlon returned to Eton Dorney a year on from the Para World Cup event, with Arctic One hosting the Paratriathlon Festival now for a 6th consecutive year. The event welcomed Britain's best Paratriathletes alongside developing talent and the grassroots of the sport.
Stuart completed the opening 750-metre swim in 12-and-a-half minutes, followed by a personal best in the 20k bike ride in 32.30, topped off by a 5k run which he completed in 24 minutes.
Lloyd Colne BMW have supported Stuart where possible over the course of his Paratriathlon career by lending him the use of a BMW SUV model to aid in the transportation of his sporting equipment.
Stuart Meikle had his right leg amputated at the knee when he was just six months old due to complications following his birth. He was inspired to take up running after taking his children to Keighley & Craven Athletics Club training sessions at University Academy Keighley.
Stuart began training for triathlons in September 2017, only a few weeks after running his first 10k on a blade and was invited to a British Paratriathlon trial in Loughborough.
Stuart then attended a training weekend at Loughborough University, the GB headquarters for the triathlon, and following that was selected to be part of the Paralympic Triathlon Talent Squad.
He has previously said: "My aim is to just get on the podium. All of my training paid off. It's great to be able to finish with a gold medal.”
Huge congratulations again to you Stuart from all here at Lloyd Colne BMW. A truly tremendous accomplishment!
