Ed is Raising Money for CLAPA19/01/2018
We are supporting our colleague Edward Johnson as he works hard to raise money for CLAPA - Cleft Lip & Palate Association.
Ed works in our Parts department here at Lloyd Colne as one of our Parts Advisors and is participating in a charity marathon to raise awareness for CLAPA after his own family has had personal experience with the fantastic work that CLAPA do.
Words from Ed's brother about his nephew Archie Johnson:
It was at our 20 week scan that we were told of our baby’s boy’s cleft lip (and/or palate). Nothing can prepare you for the shock of that initial diagnosis, however we were quickly directed to the CLAPA website. This provided an invaluable source of accurate information along with photo galleries and details of the support available to us. Within 24 hours we went from knowing very little to having a clear understanding of what we were facing in the early part of our baby’s life.
CLAPA funded a private 3D scan with a specialist which enabled us to see our baby’s face in more detail and provided welcome reassurance at an anxious time.
Our son, Archie George, was born in May 2017 with a cleft lip and had corrective surgery aged 3 ½ months in Leeds. The operation was successful and the results are incredible.
We are very grateful for the information and support CLAPA provided us with and for the care and support from the Cleft Team at Leeds General Infirmary.
Thank you in advance for your support of this very worthy organisation.
Edward Johnson is running Blackpool marathon on 22nd April 2018 and all funds raised will be donated to CLAPA as a thank you.
